  • Swimming Gala

    Thu 12 Feb 2015

On Friday, 19 children from Year Two took part in the second Harbour Sports event of the year, the Swimming Gala. After a rotation of fun activities with qualified swimming coaches Mr Mace and Miss Close, the children participated in a variety of races. These culminated in 3 separate finals of 25m.

The children enjoyed the event immensely and took home the Harbour Swimming Shield for their excellent effort.

Fun in the snow at Upton Infants!
  • We love our lollipop lady

    Fri 23 Jan 2015

Many of you will be only too aware of the traffic chaos which has been caused by the road works on Blandford Road. Sadly, this has provoked some  motorists into angry outbursts, some directed towards our lovely lollipop lady.

After hearing that some inconsiderate drivers had been abusing our School Crossing Patrol, the pupils of Upton Infant School decided to cheer her up by making a card to let Caroline Bugler, (known as 'Lala' to many of our pupils) know that they love the work that she does in all weathers.

It has been so lovely to see the support given to Mrs Bugler by so many children and parents, together with passing motorists who have been 'honking' their appreciation of her work.

This outpouring of support by our local community has made us all proud to be part of our wonderful Upton community.

Hopefully the drivers using the local roads as a cut through will follow the example set by our pupils in really valuing the work that Caroline does in keeping everyone safe when crossing the road.

Mrs Bugler will be 'off duty' for the next couple of weeks and you may notice some familiar faces standing in for her in the meantime...

  • Christmas Concerts

    Sun 21 Dec 2014

The Reception children began our Christmas concerts with a superb performance of Christmas with the Aliens. Year One also did a spectacular job in their concert in which there was a terrible mix up delivering Christmas presents to fairy tale characters. Year Two's evening carol concert was also a lovely evening, with guests being entertained by the retelling of the Christmas story in a variety of inventive ways.

Well done to all of our pupils for such a fantastic effort. Merry Christmas!

  • Choir sing at Upton Carol Concert

    Thu 11 Dec 2014
Our school choir made us really proud this week when they sang beautifully at an outdoor Carol Concert that was run by the Rev. Jean De Garis. The concert included singing from the congregation accompanied by a brass band, plus our choir performed 3 of their own songs. They sang their hearts out and really pleased the crowd. Well done everyone!
  • Disco Fever

    Thu 11 Dec 2014
Our children had lots of fun dancing to the latest tunes today at their year group discos. Many thanks to the PSA for organising them.
  • Christmas Fair

    Thu 04 Dec 2014

    What a fantastic Christmas fair!

There was a huge array of craft and food stalls to entertain, and with such a choice of sweet treats to choose from, everyone went home with a few less pounds in their pocket and a few more pounds on their hips. Well, it is Christmas, and it's all for a good cause.

Thank you for supporting Upton Infant School and we wish you a Merry Christmas.

  • Choir Performance

    Thu 27 Nov 2014

Our Year Two choir members performed superbly when they sang at a local charity event.  Wessex Faithworks were hosting a lunch for the elderly residents of Upton and our choir entertained them with a medley of Autumn and Winter songs.  The Mayor of \Poole was very complimentary about the children's singing and one kind lady even gave each of the children £1 for their money boxes.

  • Author Visit

    Mon 24 Nov 2014

This week we had a visit from John Harris, a story teller and author who worked with the children in Year One and Two. The children and adults thought he was amazing, telling incredible stories of giants and strange creatures. We hope he will return in future years.

  • Poetry Competition

    Wed 19 Nov 2014

Congratulations to Layla Whitchurch, Jessica Peel and Ben Williams for representing the school so well in the Upton Poetry Competition.  The theme was Autumn and the children performed their poems confidently to a packed audience at the Yarrells School.  Layla's poem was awarded third prize overall.
