Lunches

Children eat their lunches in three sittings in the school hall. Each class has a dinner supervisor who takes responsibility for their group and monitors their behaviour at lunchtime. Good table manners are encouraged.

Hot Lunches

We offer hot meals at Upton Infant School, provided by Star Cuisine. These hot meals are provided free for all children.

The menu options comprise a choice between a main course / vegetarian and choice of dessert. Different meals are also offered for special occasions such as Easter, or Christmas for example.

Packed Lunches

Some parents opt to provide their own packed lunches for their child. As a Healthy School, we encourage children to eat a healthy and balanced diet. We urge all parents to provide their children with a sensible, nutritious lunch. Please see below for some suggestions for providing a healthy lunchbox.

Upton Infant School is also a “nut free” school. In the interests of other children with nut allergies, please do not include nuts in your child’s packed lunch.

The contents of all the children’s lunch boxes are not disposed of at the end of lunch, but are sent home in order that parents can see what their child has left uneaten. Please provide a small plastic bag for uneaten/unfinished yoghurts, as the contents may spill and cause a mess.

Snack Time

All children have a mid-morning snack and drink. We provide all children with a piece of fruit each day and ask parents to provide a bottle of water to bring to school each day.
