This morning, Upton Infant School's own rock stars took to the stage to play in front of an audience of children and parents. The children have been honing their musical talents in their weekly Rocksteady Music School lessons. Well done to theses superstars!
What a brilliant day we all had on our favourite day of the year celebrating all things books and reading!
Our Reception children were very lucky to be visited by 'Emmy-Lou' the steam traction engine owned by one of our families, as part of their learning in their 'Let's Explore' topic. What a brilliant experience! Thank you.
Our Reception children had a lovely time this afternoon at their Teddy Bears' Picnic. They enjoyed eating the sandwiches and cakes they'd made in school yesterday and showing each other their special cuddly toys.
🥁 Year One children were treated to an African drumming workshop today, led by our music specialist, Mr. Potter! Everyone had a fantastic time, made lots of noise, and learnt some amazing rhythms — it sounded incredible! 🎶
👨👩👧👦 Parents were also invited to attend a short performance — a massive thank you to everyone who came along to support the event! 🙌
📩 At the end of the day, all Reception and Year One pupils were given letters about the opportunity to learn the drum kit or keyboard next academic year. If you think this is something your child would enjoy, please return the application form to the Infant School office!
Our Reception classes have thoroughly enjoyed finishing their Amazing Animals topic with 'Pet Week' and their 'Amazing Animals Mask Parade' around the school today.
We would like to say a huge thank you to those families and friends of the school who brought their pets in for the children to meet and ask questions about. They have absolutely loved learning about about the wide variety of pets that we had in school and the experience has been invaluable!
Our Reception children started their new 'Amazing Animals' topic in style with an exciting and informative visit to The Oceanarium in Bournemouth. We are so proud of the fantastic way they represented the school. Everyone had a brilliant time!
Thank you to our wonderful helpers for supporting us and allowing us to be able to go.
End of Spring term - The Tidy Up Club has been a great success with nearly all classes having had the opportunity to attend. Collectively, we have nearly reached a whole bin bag of litter that has been collected from around our school! What a difference the children are making to our environment!
Yesterday we were very excited to welcome Clover to school with her trainer, Geraldine. Clover is being trained to be a guide dog. Geraldine explained how Clover would help her owner and the training that she does. It costs £50,000 to train a guide dog. People can help by sponsoring a puppy. You can find out more here.
Welcome back! And what a glorious day to come back with blue sky and sunshine!
Among their learning this half term, Year Two are going to be learning to code in computing - today they began by programming Bee Bots. By the way, the children can access the '2 Code' software at home with their 'Purple Mash' log in.
They will also be learning to sew over the next few weeks - today they explored different joining techniques...
