The annual Summer music concert took place on Thursday and unusually, the sun was shining!
There were super performances from each year group, the recorder club, the Musical Fun club, the winners of 'Upton's Got Talent' and a not so super performance from the staff!
On Thursday evening we took a group of 18 Year Two children to sing alongside the other pyramid schools in this year's Pyramid Music Festival Concert. Our children behaved impeccably and sang beautifully for our individual song 'The Bare Necessities' and the joint choir item 'We are the World', which was arranged by Beth Goudie using Singing Strategy money.
Thank you to all those involved - you represented the school superbly and we were very proud of you. The singing was spine-tinglingly stunning!
Today, the children spent the day in their new classes. We were really pleased to welcome our lovely new Reception children who seemed to be having a splendid time in the Owls, Rabbits and Ladybirds classes.
The current Reception and Year One children also had an enjoyable day in their new classrooms, whilst most of Year Two children went to the junior school for the day and came back with exciting stories to tell.
The Year Two children will certainly remember their last ever trip at Upton Infant School. Amazing rollercoaster rides, a super science workshop and giant log flumes all ensured the children came home thrilled, exhausted and a bit wet! And best of all, not a Peppa Pig ride in sight! Their behaviour and attitude was exemplary throughout. Well done Year Two!
The sun may not have been shining, but our spirits could not me dampened at this year's rather soggy Summer Fair.
There were plenty of goodies on offer to eat, crafty things to do and prizes to be won. You could even learn to play the ukulele!
Thanks to the PSA, Mrs Homer and the staff for organising the event, and for all the parents and families for coming along and supporting us, even though the weather was disappointing. It has helped to raise much needed funds for the school which will be spent directly on the children.
What an exciting day - we have thoroughly enjoyed this year's Sports Day. The children, as always, made us very proud with their super effort, determination and sportsmanship.
The children took part in a variety of races, from the traditional egg and spoon, obstacle races and sprints. Toddlers, parents and grandparents were also encouraged to join in with the races.
We hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.
Our annual Grandparents' Morning was again a popular event. We spent the day focussing on our School Charter Values which we use to help us be a happy and successful school community. We have five key responsibilities:-
We did a series of activities around the school during the day to help us really understand what these responsibilities mean. We hope our grandparents enjoyed their visit.
Our Reception children had a super start to their 'Amazing Animals' topic with a visit to Honeybrook Farm to see first hand the large variety of farm animals.
The children had the chance to collect eggs from the chickens, get close-up and personal with the animals in pets corner and even feed the baby goats.
For many, the highlight of the day was a ride around the farm on a tractor!
