  • Summer Music Concert

    Sat 16 Jul 2016

The annual Summer music concert took place on Thursday and unusually, the sun was shining!

There were super performances from each year group, the recorder club, the Musical Fun club, the winners of 'Upton's Got Talent' and a not so super performance from the staff!

  • Singing Sensations

    Tue 12 Jul 2016

On Thursday evening we took a group of 18 Year Two children to sing alongside the other pyramid schools in this year's Pyramid Music Festival Concert. Our children behaved impeccably and sang beautifully for our individual song 'The Bare Necessities' and the joint choir item 'We are the World', which was arranged by Beth Goudie using Singing Strategy money.

Thank you to all those involved - you represented the school superbly and we were very proud of you. The singing was spine-tinglingly stunning!

  • Transfer Day

    Wed 06 Jul 2016

Today, the children spent the day in their new classes. We were really pleased to welcome our lovely new Reception children who seemed to be having a splendid time in the Owls, Rabbits and Ladybirds classes.

The current Reception and Year One children also had an enjoyable day in their new classrooms, whilst most of Year Two children went to the junior school for the day and came back with exciting stories to tell.

  • Paultons Park

    Thu 30 Jun 2016

The Year Two children will certainly remember their last ever trip at Upton Infant School. Amazing rollercoaster rides, a super science workshop and giant log flumes all ensured the children came home thrilled, exhausted and a bit wet! And best of all, not a Peppa Pig ride in sight! Their behaviour and attitude was exemplary throughout. Well done Year Two!

  • Summer Fair

    Wed 29 Jun 2016

The sun may not have been shining, but our spirits could not me dampened at this year's rather soggy Summer Fair.

There were plenty of goodies on offer to eat, crafty things to do and prizes to be won. You could even learn to play the ukulele!

Thanks to the PSA, Mrs Homer and the staff for organising the event, and for all the parents and families for coming along and supporting us, even though the weather was disappointing. It has helped to raise much needed funds for the school which will be spent directly on the children.

  • Singing in the community

    Mon 27 Jun 2016
On Saturday Mrs Gdesis and several members of her 'Musical Fun' after school club went to St. Dunstan's Church to sing as part of their Summer Fair. The children represented the school exceptionally well and impressed the audience with their tuneful singing, smiling faces and exemplary behaviour. Well done to all involved!
  • Sporting Superstars

    Fri 24 Jun 2016

What an exciting day - we have thoroughly enjoyed this year's Sports Day. The children, as always, made us very proud with their super effort, determination and sportsmanship.

The children took part in a variety of races, from the traditional egg and spoon, obstacle races and sprints. Toddlers, parents and grandparents were also encouraged to join in with the races.

We hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.

  • Grandparents' Morning and Values Day

    Fri 10 Jun 2016

Our annual Grandparents' Morning was again a popular event.  We spent the day focussing on our School Charter Values which we use to help us be a happy and successful school community.  We have five key responsibilities:-

    • To try our best
    • To listen carefully to others
    • To be kind, gentle, polite and help others
    • To play fairly and let others join in
    • To keep the school tidy and look after it

We did a series of activities around the school during the day to help us really understand what these responsibilities mean.  We hope our grandparents enjoyed their visit.

  • Manor Mile

    Fri 10 Jun 2016
On Thursday we organised the Manor Mile running event for the pyramid schools.  This year we held the event at Sandford Primary School.  The children selected for the school team ran around the beautifully designed course to much applause and cheering from the watching spectators.  All the children did really well with some of them earning individual medals - Addison Hathaway (Second - Reception Girls), Finley Jones (First - Year One Boys), Reece Churchill (Second - Year One Boys), Chloe Goddard (Second - Year Two Girls) and Ellie Crumpler (Third - Year Two Girls).  Overall we came second in the Reception/Year One competition and third in the Year Two competition.
  • Honeybrook Farm

    Thu 09 Jun 2016

Our Reception children had a super start to their 'Amazing Animals' topic with a visit to Honeybrook Farm to see first hand the large variety of farm animals.

The children had the chance to collect eggs from the chickens, get close-up and personal with the animals in pets corner and even feed the baby goats.

For many, the highlight of the day was a ride around the farm on a tractor!
