  • Project Mala

    Wed 16 Jul 2014

Throughout the year, the school has been raising money for Project Mala, a charity which funds schools for children in India. Each class sponsored a different child whose education was being funded by Project Mala.

Each year group organised an activity to raise funds. Reception organised a charity car wash, Year One held the 'Great Upton Bake Off' cake sale, and Year Two held a 'Mega Mala', a festival of Indian food, music and dancing.

These activities collectively raised £800 for Project Mala. On Monday, Robin Garland from Project Mala visited the school to tell the children about the work of the charity. The School Council then presented Robin with a cheque. The school will continue to follow the work of Project Mala in the coming years, but the School Council will shortly be considering which charity they will be supporting next year.

  • Upton Carnival

    Sun 13 Jul 2014
Congratulations to The Wallys and The Baywatch Crew for their tremendous efforts at the carnival on Saturday.  On a beautiful day our entry was awarded Best Overall Float and Best Children's Float.  The children (and adults) loved waving and dancing to the crowds that lined the streets and we are already looking forward to next year's event.
  • Pyramid Music Concert

    Wed 09 Jul 2014
Well done to our school choir who joined with the other local school choirs to sing together at the annual Pyramid Music Concert.  It was held at the Lytchett Minster Secondary School and our children sang beautifully in front of over 500 spectators.
  • Where's Wally?

    Tue 08 Jul 2014

We need your help! Where's Wally?

We have been on the look out for our old friend Wally, but can't seem to find him. We have been contacted by a number of Upton residents who have seen him out and about.

Please keep your eyes peeled over the next few days to see if you can find out just where Wally is.

  • Communities Week

    Thu 26 Jun 2014

This week has been communities week at Upton Infant School. We have learning about the different communities of which we are part alongside thinking about our rights and responsibilities.

    Monday - Our Class

Today each class was thinking about what makes them unique and working on ideas to improve their class or year group environment through artwork, tidying or gardening.

    Tuesday - Our Country

Today we learned about our country and the constituent countries of the United Kingdom. We also remembered those people who fought for our country during World War I, the hundredth anniversary of which falls in several weeks time.

It was also the day when the annual 'Upton's Got Talent' final took place.

    Wednesday - Our World

Today, the children came to school dressed as a country of their choice. They spent the day learning about the culture, customs and geography of different countries around the world. At the end of the day, children performed or exhibited their work in a special assembly.

    Thursday - Our School

Today, children focused on their school community. The first ever Upton Infant School Horticultural Show took place, and the judges were overwhelmed with the quality of entrants in the many categories.

    Friday - Our Local Community

Today the children will be taking their learning into the wider community. We will update you with what the children got up to at the end of the day.

  • Summer Fair

    Fri 20 Jun 2014

Once more, we were blessed with glorious sunshine for the Summer Fair. The children and their families were kept entertained with numerous craft activities, bouncy castles, cake stalls, a chance to look round a fire engine and even throw a wet sponge or two at Mr Helm!

The warm sunshine and large crowds ensured that many of the stalls sold out if their wares by the end of the fair. All the money raised at the Summer Fair is used by the PSA to fund projects at school to benefit all the children.

We would like to say a big

    Thank You

to the PSA, parents and staff for making this year's Summer Fair another fantastic event. The support, hard work and enthusiasm of everyone involved helped to make the event a super success.

  • Manor Mile

    Sat 14 Jun 2014

Congratulations to our cross country team who won the Reception, Year One and Year Two competitions at the recent Manor Mile event.  We hosted the 'mile' this year on Upton Rec and all the schools in the Lytchett Minster pyramid of schools were represented.  Our runners showed great enthusiasm and determination to ensure that we returned back to school with the trophies.  Special mention must also be made to Chloe Goddard, Jayden Noble, Georgia Legg and Eliesha McArthur who crossed the line first in their races.

  • Sports Day

    Fri 06 Jun 2014

Once again, we were blessed with beautiful weather for Sports Day.

The day started with a variety of sporting activities for all the children, supervised by Miss Chadwick's Year Five class from the Junior School.

Many parents and family then joined us for a picnic on the school field before heading over to the Rec for the main event.

The children took part in a number of different races, such as obstacle races, skipping, water and sponge races, egg and spoon and sprint races. There was also the ever-competitive Dad's race, Mum's race and toddler's race together with the annual humiliation of the staff race.

Well done to all the winners, but also to all the children who took part in such a sporting fashion, relishing taking part even if they didn't win. We hope everyone had an enjoyable day.

  • Unbelievable Upton!

    Mon 02 Jun 2014

The Year Two children enjoyed a fun, but tiring, start to their topic, Unbelievable Upton, with a trip to Upton Country Park.

Thankfully, despite the warnings of the weathermen, the rain stayed away. The children enjoyed a day of orienteering, bug hunting and den building. We were very lucky to have so many splendid parents who came along to help us.

Take a look at the photos to see a little of the fun we had...

  • Carwash Capers

    Fri 23 May 2014

Our reception children have had a very productive end to their 'People Who Help Us' topic, and became people who help others!

They have spent the afternoon washing cars, painting nails and serving refreshments which they made themselves.

All the money raised at this super event will go towards our 'Project Mala' fundraising, which raises money to educate children in India.

We would like to say a very big  THANK YOU to everyone who supported this event.
