Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Today the children came to school dressed as farmers and scarecrows and donated food for our Harvest Festival.
The children spent the day doing a range of Autumn themed activities, including carving harvest themed pumpkins.
We were joined by members of the ‘Young at Heart’ club for our harvest assembly in which each year group sang an Autumn song and Mrs Vaughan and Mrs Grounds battled it out in a ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ competition, judged by the Young at Heart. The pumpkin carving competition was won by the Foxes class.
As is customary at the end of a half term, the year groups have been finishing their topics in style.
Reception celebrated the end of their 'Royal Reception' topic with a grand ball in which children waltzed with each other dressed as knights, princes and princesses.
Year One's 'It's all about me' topic culminated in the children producing their own 'grand designs' of their bedrooms in shoe boxes. Huge thanks to Mrs Harnett who helped the children on the sewing machine to produce their designs.
Year Two's topic on 'The Swinging Sixties' finished with the Uptonstock Festival in which children showed off their singing, dancing, costumes and fantastic home learning projects.
Pupils in the Foxes Class treated their parents to the school's first class assembly of the year.
The assembly took the form of 'University Challenge' in which the pupils from the Upton Infant School team soundly beat the students from Oxford University with their knowledge of events from the sixties.
Well done Foxes! A super class assembly.Take a look at the photos to see some of the action for yourselves.
Our Year Two football squad enjoyed an afternoon of sporting fun when we held a joint training session followed by matches with the Yarrells School. Approximately thirty children from the two schools took part with 'Head Coach' Mr Antell leading the session ably assisted by 'Director of Football' Mr Cole. In the matches we drew one game 0-0 and won the other 4-0 with Alfie Speller scoring a hat-trick.
Congratulations to everyone who took part.
Upton Infant School's new school council was officially appointed by Michael Tomlinson, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, at a special assembly.
Mr Tomlinson took the opportunity to look around the school and talk to children from each class.
Mrs Marsh will be working with the school council, which comprises one child from each Year One and Two class, to represent the voice of the pupils in helping to continue to improve Upton Infant School.
