Upton's Got Talent
Thu 22 Jul 2021Well done to those children who showed off their BRILLIANT talents on Thursday. We were amazed by singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, musicians, quiz show hosts and lots more. You were AMAZING!!

Water fun day!
Wed 21 Jul 2021What better way to cool down on a hot, sunny day? The children had great fun today on the annual water fun day, and judging from some of the dishevelled staff squelching through the school, they enjoyed it too!

Year Two's Blog
Fri 16 Jul 2021Welcome to this week's Year Two blog.
What we have been doing this week
Although we are approaching the end of the year, and the end of the children's time at Upton Infant School, we are still very busy. However, as you will be aware, it as been a challenging week with so many of our staff currently isolating. This will continue to be a theme next week, so thank you for bearing with us as we limp towards the finish line!
This week, we have continued to learn about measure in our maths lessons, focusing on mass this week. In our writing, we have been continuing to reflect on our time at Upton Infant School.
What we are learning next week
We have got a busy but fun packed week ahead including water fun and class parties. Much of the time will be taken up with the finishing touches for our end of year virtual performance. Please remember that we are putting this together with a skeleton staff! Look out for this at the end of the week.
If possible, it would be helpful if the children could bring in a carrier bag as they will be having a pile of bits and bobs to bring home towards the end of the week.
This week we are not setting any new spellings.
Wow Work
This week, Woodpeckers have topped the Doodle maths chart and have earned extra play time. Unfortunately we have been unable to count the weekly read this week due to staff shortages.

Year Two's Weekly Blog
Thu 08 Jul 2021Welcome to this week's Year Two blog.
What we have been doing this week
It's been a wacky old week in Year Two. The children have been busy making their Wacky vehicles after two weeks of exploring vehicles, practicing skills like sawing, designing and making. The Wacky Races took place where the children tested their vehicles using a ramp.
In maths we have been measuring length in cm and m, using a variety of equipment such as rulers, tape measures and trundle wheels.
In our writing, we have been continue to write about the story of our End of Year performance. We have also been painting scenery and props ready for filming!
On Friday it was Sports Day. Unfortunately we were unable to invite parents along this year, but the children took part in various fun races and activities throughout the day.
What we are learning next week
Next week we will be focusing on our End of Year Performance. We will be filming the scenes over a number of days, so we would be very grateful if your child could bring any costume in as soon as possible.
We will also be reflecting on our time at Upton Infant School, and writing about some of our memories.
In maths we will be exploring mass, weighing objects using balances and scales and comparing their weights.
This week we are not setting any new spellings.

He has helped the Woodpeckers to gain the top spot on the Doodle Maths chart, whereas the Squirrels have topped the Doodle English chart.

Year Two's Blog - 2nd July
Fri 02 Jul 2021Welcome to this week's Year Two blog.
What we have been doing this week
It has been another busy week this week, but thankfully we have completed our end of year assessments! As part of this, the children have been writing about their recent Animal Fun Day and completing some rather posh maths booklets!
More excitingly, the children have been continuing their work as Brilliant Mechanics, exploring the best ways to attach wheels to chassis and creating their plans for their own vehicles for out wacky races.
What we are learning next week
Next week we will be looking at measuring length in maths, exploring how to estimate and measure accurately in cm and m using tape measures, rules and trundle wheels.
In our writing lessons we are going to start thinking about the story for our End of Year production. The children begin to retell this story in their own words.
We will making our vehicles for the 'Wacky Races'. We hope to be able to race the vehicles by the end of the week - we will post a video of it when we do!

Yet again, the Squirrels have topped the reading chart for having the most children who have been reading three times a week, while the Foxes topped the Doodle maths chart. Both classes earn extra playtime.
