Year One Blog 29th September
Fri 29 Sep 2023As mentioned in our Welcome to Year One meeting, our PE days are now Monday and Thursday.
In the next couple of weeks the children will be creating a fruit salad as part of their Design and Technology topic. Please make us aware of any fruits which your child cannot have or are allergic to.
What we will be learning next week:
In Literacy, the children will be continuing with the story 'The Way Back Home'. The children will be writing a character description of an alien with a focus on using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
In Guided Reading, the children will be reading 'Look Up' by Nathan Bryon'. The children will be retrieving information from the story. Please ensure your child has their library book in their book bag every day so that it can be returned.
In Maths, the children will be introduced to addition this week using part-part whole models. The children will also be introduced to the add symbol.
In Geography, the children will be looking at a variety of maps and their features. The children will be using compass directions and will create their own map of the classroom.

Wed 27 Sep 2023Welcome to Year Two
What we are learning next week
In maths we will be learning about number bonds to 100. The children will use their knowledge of number bonds to 10 to support their learning. We will also be learning how to add 2 digit numbers. You can read the knowledge organiser here.
In our literacy lessons we will be discussing the differences between fiction and non-fiction books. We will be using our knowledge from these books to describe a wolf! You can read the knowledge organiser here.
In science we will be sorting food into groups. We will be discussing what a healthy diet is and why it is important. You can read the knowledge organiser here.
In art we will be learning how to draw from different perspectives. You can read the knowledge organiser here.
In history we will be comparing the past to the present. We will be focusing on life in the 1950s when the school was built. You can read the knowledge organiser here.

Year One Blog 22nd September
Fri 22 Sep 2023The children have settled in brilliantly to Year One!
As mentioned in our Welcome to Year One meeting, our PE days will be changing from next week. The new days are: Monday and Thursday.
What we will be learning next week:
In Literacy, the children will be introduced to the story 'The Way Back Home'. They will be focusing on using capital letters to begin their sentences and how to form these.
In Guided Reading, the children will be beginning their new group rotation which will include a read with the teacher. Their VIPERS activity will be based on the book 'Astro Girl'.
In Maths, the children will be comparing numbers within 10 including using greater than and less than symbols. They will also be ordering numbers within 10 using concrete and pictorial resources.
In Computing, the children will be programming Beebots to follow a simple instruction. The children will also be creating their own instructions for somebody to follow.

Music Mark Award 2023-2024

Year Two Blog 8th September

Wow!
The children have settled into Year Two brilliantly and they have worked extremely hard this week.
In our literacy lessons we have been detectives trying to find the person who ate from the three bear's porridge bowls. The children have created posters to try and find the mystery person who committed the crime!
In maths we have been learning how to count forwards and backwards in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s.
We have focused on skills from our 'learning critters' this week. We have discussed teamwork, communication, resilience and how to be responsible.
