  • Year Two's India Festival

    Wed 23 Mar 2016
Year Two finished their Incredible India topic with an Indian festival for parents and families. The children entertained with Bhangra dancing, Indian singing, teaching Hindi numbers and even provided a feast of Indian food which had been inventively designed by the children. Some of the recipes were unusual to say the least!

    Tue 22 Mar 2016
Well done to the children from the Owls class for such a super assembly about their 'People Who Help Us' topic. We hope the parents and families enjoyed it. Thank you to all the people who have helped us during our 'People Who Help Us' topic by coming in to talk about how they help us!
  • Easter Egg Hunt

    Tue 22 Mar 2016

It was lovely to welcome our local preschool children in to school today for an Easter Egg Hunt.

They had great fun doing craft activities and decorating Easter biscuits. Rumour has it that the Easter Bunny was even spotted hopping around school...

  • Tri-Golf Day

    Mon 21 Mar 2016

Yet another sporting event took place at Upton today. Mike and Charlie from Sturminster Marshall Golf Club came to visit the children and showed them a variety of fun golfing activities. The children loved the competition but still adhered to the respectful golfing traditions (well..apart from mocking the coaches' "pyjama" trousers!

A free hour session is available at Sturminster Marshall Golf Club over the Easter Holidays.

  • Sport Relief

    Fri 18 Mar 2016

We have had a fantastic Sports Relief day at Upton Infant School. All children showed true grit and determination in running the 'Manor Mile' around Upton Rec on what was a bitterly cold day. Thankfully, parents were able to keep warm with a hot drink and a piece of cake from the very welcome refreshments tent.

After lunch was the grand final of the Dorset Puddle Jumping Championship. A finalist from each class was selected from the morning's heats, judged on their athletic prowess and style. You can see a super video of this on the Bournemouth Echo's website.

The money raised throughout the day will be divided between Sports Relief and Clic Sargent, which is the charity Miss Dominey is supporting when she runs the London Marathon in April.

Well done children - super sporting efforts today!

  • Tag Rugby

    Wed 16 Mar 2016
The tag rugby squad had another hugely successful session at the Yarrells School. Training matches were played, with Upton B team mixing with Yarrells B to make a fairer contest, and both teams showed great progress from their first session. In the A team match there were tries galore, with the children learning more about movement and passing. The match ended in a keenly contested draw. Thanks to all the parents who came to show their support.

We were joined yesterday by Councillor Fred Drane and representatives of the Keep Upton Tidy group who presented the school with a cheque for £300 in response to the work the school does in supporting the development of the local community.  The money will be spent on purchasing new recycling bins for each of the classrooms.
