  • Fantastic Foxes

    Mon 30 Jan 2017

It was not just a case of 'Fantastic Mr. Fox', but 'Fantastic Foxes' today as it was the turn of the Foxes Class to put on an assembly for their parents.

The children did a superb job in sharing their love of all things 'Dahl' in their superb assembly which showcased many of Roald Dahl's characters.

    Well done Foxes!

  • Tag Rugby spectacle

Tue 24 Jan 2017 Mr Antell
On Tuesday 24th January some excited Year Two children took the short walk across Upton to the Yarrells to play 'Tag Rugby'. In a scene comparable to the film 'Gorillas in the Mist', our teams played extremely well. They have only been learning the game for a short period and the progress they all made across the one hour session was noteable. Some great tries from William Vernon and Jack Whittingham were some of the many highlights. At the end of the game all players shook hands and we all eagerly await the next fixture in March. Well done everyone who attended!
  • New instruments!

    Tue 24 Jan 2017

As part of making our school CD, we have been sent a set of beautiful African class percussion instruments. The choir got the first go on them today. Here they are having lots of fun making music with them.

Thank you to My School CD!

  • A Marvellous Assembly

    Mon 23 Jan 2017

Today was the first of our class assemblies of the year.

To kick us off, the Frogs did an absolutely marvellous job of showing off their learning from the past few weeks of their Roald Dahl inspired topic.

The children included many of the characters they have discovered from the various Roald Dahl books that they have been reading, but also gave a flavour of the depth of their literacy learning as well.

The costumes were incredible, the singing and acting was fantastic and there were lots of smiles and laughs too.

    Well done, Frogs!

  • A Sparkling Start to the Year

    Fri 06 Jan 2017

It has been a sparkling start to the new year for all our children with a variety of exciting events taking place.

Reception came to school today to find some dinosaur footprints on the front lawn. They were then contacted by Professor Green from the Dorset palaeontology department who asked them to go on a hunt around Upton looking for further clues. They saw a variety of things such as scratch marks, ripped shrubs, strange egg-shaped things and large flattened areas of ground. Some roaring noises were even heard before each class stumbled on a dinosaur egg! The children took the eggs back to school and kept them warm and by the end of the day the eggs had hatched and each class had a baby dinosaur to look after. What an exciting day!

The Year One children spent the day finding out about the wonderful books of Julia Donaldson. This included reading The Gruffalo and creating some strange recipes inspired by the book, such as 'scrambled snake'!

Year Two started the day by experiencing a range of Roald Dahl stories being told by the teachers before heading off around the school on their very own story walk. They found five story areas and created  their own unique stories before planning and writing them. The stories are now published in our classrooms' reading corners in one giant book!
