  • Music Concert

    Sun 28 Jun 2015

We held our annual music concert on Friday afternoon. Each year group performed songs from their chosen music together with performances from the choir and the 'Mascot Band' comprising the class mascots accompanied by all children who had collected 5 or more reading bands throughout the year. There were also super performances from the winners of the 'Upton's Got Talent' competition.

  • Upton's Got Talent

    Thu 25 Jun 2015

There was a wide variety of acts on display at this year's Upton's Got Talent competition. Singers, rappers, gymnasts, dancers, poets, magicians and golfers delighted the audience.

The panel of judges were very impressed with all of the finalists, making choosing a winner difficult. The winners from each year team will perform at the music concert on Friday afternoon in front of children and parents.

  • Year Two Cricket

    Tue 23 Jun 2015
Year Two played their first cricket match at the Yarrells School, and there was some brilliant batting, bowling and fielding from both sides. The Yarrells "Tigers" proved formidable opponents and just edged both games by the odd run. Hopefully this will be the start of many more competitive matches with the Yarrells.
  • Arts Week

    Tue 23 Jun 2015

Expressive Arts Week was kicked off with a special performance for the children by the staff. Each year team performed a song from the musicals, with a particularly impressive performance by Mr Antell in Mamma Mia.

On Tuesday the children were treated to a performance from Lytchett Minster school band performing jazz, rock and brass numbers.

Throughout the week the children will be taking part in a variety of art activities, culminating in the music performance on Friday afternoon.

  • Manor Mile Success

    Thu 18 Jun 2015

Congratulations to Team Upton Infants who competed in the Manor Mile cross country event today against the other five schools in the Lytchett Minster pyramid.  This year's race was held at Upton Country Park on a beautifully sunny afternoon.

Individual medals were awarded to Reece C (Reception Boys Winner), Chloe G (Year One Girls Runner Up), Jack B (Year Two Boys Winner), Georgia L (Year Two Girls Runner Up) and Abbie KB (Year Two Girls Third Place).

In each race the top three children's scores were added together to create an overall team score.  Pleasingly our Reception/Year One team came joint first and our Year Two team also came first so we have two shiny trophies to add to our collection.

    Well done Team Upton

  • Summer Fair

    Thu 11 Jun 2015

On a gloriously sunny afternoon Upton Infant School held its annual Summer Fair. There were lots of stalls and activities to amuse and entertain pupils and their families. We hope everyone had an enjoyable afternoon, and would like to thank the many parents ans staff who help run the fair.

The Summer Fair helps the PSA to raise funds which are increasingly important in supporting a variety of projects at Upton Infant School.

  • Sports Day

    Fri 05 Jun 2015

Congratulations to all the children, parents and staff for their tremendous efforts during Sports Day.

A morning of competitive events such as the egg and spoon, sprint and obstacle race was followed by the annual children's water race and the teachers' 'welly wanging' competition.

  • Why are there pirates at school today?

    Tue 02 Jun 2015

    Because there arghhh!

Mr Helm had been captured by pirates today, and his release would only be secured once the Year One children had completed a variety of pirate related tasks. Thankfully, the children worked very hard and by lunchtime Mr Helm was untied.

Meanwhile, Burglar Bill was spotted around school this morning. Thankfully, not much gets past our ever-vigilant caretaker, Mr Loe, who captured him and presented him to the Year Two children for cross examination. At first it was thought he was stealing, but after careful questioning by the  children, it turns out he was actually retuning items to school. Phew.

Whilst all this was going on, our Reception children were managing to have a much more serene day, with a watery inspired arts day resulting in some very creative work.

All these events helped to enthuse the children at the start of the new half term, kick starting their new topics.

But please can we ask everyone to keep their eyes peeled for pirates over the coming weeks, as rumour has it some teachers may be asked to walk the plank...
