On one of the stormiest evenings of the year, lots of families braved the elements to come along to the year Two Carol Concert. All afternoon the wine had been mulling in readiness for the Year Two children's seasonal sing-song.
The evening began with the a few rousing carols played by the superb Broadstone Community Band. Then it was the turn of the children, who entertained the crowd with poetry and Christmassy Songs and also accompanied Mr Cole and Mrs Gdesis in a fantastic rendition of Hallelujah.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported this lovely event. We must also thank the many members of staff who gave up their time to prepare.
A very merry Christmas from all of the Year Two staff.
The Christmas Disco was a huge success. Take a look at the photos to see how we like to get down and boogie in Upton Infant School!
The school choir were asked to sing at the recent community 'Carols at the Clocktower' event in Upton. We sang some of our favourites and joined in with the more traditional carols alongside parents and the rest of the community.
The choir also sang to the parents on the playground to add a bit of festive flair to the end of term.
Read the recent article in the Bournemouth Daily Echo to find out just why children, parents and staff are saying 'We love school'.
With only 20 days left until Christmas, Upton Infant School held its Christmas Fair today. As usual the staff and PSA did a super job of organising a fabulous events with lots of craft activities, stalls and fun. Mr Helm was particularly pleased with his can of pineapple chunks won on the Tombola stall.
Thank you to all of the parents and families who came along - we hope that you enjoyed yourselves!
Congratulations to Eleisha McArthur, Logan Wilson and David Lock who represented the school at the annual Upton Schools Poetry Competition. They each individually performed a 'Firework' themed poem in front of a panel of judges, parents and headteachers. The Yarrells School library was a fitting location for the event and the teas and cakes afterwards were very well received! All three of our pupils read their poems with great confidence and received a special certificate for their efforts. David's performance was judged to be 2nd overall and he was pleased to be awarded a £10 gift voucher.
Two Year 2 teams travelled to Hamworthy Junior School to participate in the football stage of the "Harbour Shield", a new, year long competition derived to encourage competitive sport with the schools in the area, on this day these being Twin Sails Infants and Turlin Moor. Both Upton teams started brightly, with excellent finishing, good passing and some strong defensive work. After a round robin of 4 games for each team, the deciding match was Upton "A" versus Twin Sails...
Upton were victorious 3-0, and were therefore winners of the Harbour Sports Football Shield! A great effort by all the children that took part, and here's to the next stage of the competition...
We have been very lucky to have Mr Childerhouse working with us over the last couple of months. All of the staff will miss his hard work and enthusiasm, and he will be particularly missed by the Foxes Class.
But there were a few old friends who wanted to come and say goodbye to Mr Childerhouse today...
Mr Childerhouse will be working shortly in another school as he continues his teacher training course. We know he is going to be a super teacher.
Good luck!
