Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our Science Day proved to be a very exciting event. The children were invited to dress as scientists for the day and even some of the staff joined in! The day began with a futuristic assembly lead by Miss Monaghan alongside some willing assistants. To the delight of the children Space Zog returned in his spaceship to talk to the children about life in 2114.
Throughout the day the children carried out experiments, designed and made vehicles of the future and generally had a lot of fun learning about being a scientist. Some of our Year Two pupils were invited to spend the afternoon at Lytchett Minster Secondary School where they used their ‘proper’ science labs to carry out their investigations.
An event steeped in tradition and old rivalries, the annual Upton Infant School Pancake Race took place today. This year's event was an epic battle between the year groups as they fought to rescue Curlylocks in the quickest time.
Reception, in the guise of 'The Baby Bears' finished in third place.
Year Two as 'The Daddy Bears' came in second.
Year One - 'The Mummy Bears' - finished in the quickest time, lifting the coveted Upton Infant School Pancake Race trophy for their first time.
Well done to all the teams, but particularly to 'Curlylocks' (also know as Miss Card, our super Poole SCITT Teaching Student) who had to endure three rather cold and soggy pancakes!
Valentines Day was an exciting day for our Reception children as they were all guests at Cinderella's Ball. They dressed up in their best Prince and Princess outfits, dazzled and danced for the end of their 'Enchanted Tales' topic.
Thankfully, everybody made it home on time and nobody turned into a pumpkin.
Year 1 exhibited their fantastic Julia Donaldson home learning projects to mark the end of the topic. Take a look at the superb work they had produced:
The Ladybirds put on a fabulous class assembly with a packed audience of their parents, siblings and grandparents. They spoke and sang clearly and made Mrs Gdesis very proud. Here are some of the highlights:
The Foxes Class performed their assembly to parents and children on Tuesday.
They did a fantastic job of speaking confidently and clearly, dancing, singing, reciting poetry and playing musical instruments.
Well done Foxes - you were super!
On one of the stormiest evenings of the year, lots of families braved the elements to come along to the year Two Carol Concert. All afternoon the wine had been mulling in readiness for the Year Two children's seasonal sing-song.
The evening began with the a few rousing carols played by the superb Broadstone Community Band. Then it was the turn of the children, who entertained the crowd with poetry and Christmassy Songs and also accompanied Mr Cole and Mrs Gdesis in a fantastic rendition of Hallelujah.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported this lovely event. We must also thank the many members of staff who gave up their time to prepare.
A very merry Christmas from all of the Year Two staff.
