Welcome to Year Two's blog
What a crazy day! The children have been breaking the rules left, right and centre! There were some crazy hair styles, tattoos and colourful clothing which has all raised nearly £600 for the PSA. Maybe we should break the rules more often! You can see some photos below...
What we have been doing this week
This week in maths we have completed our learning on fractions (Here's our fractions Knowledge Organiser). We have also been completing end of term assessments.
The children have also been continuing their learning about the Great Fire of London, learning how it fits chronologically on a timeline with other historic events and creating their own timeline. Here's our Knowledge Organiser.
The children have also been reading and writing poetry. They explored a wide range of poetry, performing poems they have learned to the class, and writing their own. Here's the information sheet for this topic.
What we are learning next week
Next week in maths we will be revisiting work on addition and subtraction, consolidating the work we have previously done. We will be looking at using strategies including the number line, Dienes cubes and column method for adding and subtracting two 2-digit numbers. You can read the knowledge organiser here.
We will also be completing our history topic on The Great Fire of London. The children will be comparing London in 1666 with today. Here's the knowledge organiser for the topic.
In their writing next week, children will be exploring the poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat'. The children will be using the poem as inspiration for writing their own narratives, describing the setting of the poem. Here's the information sheet for this topic.
Next week, we will also be having an exciting 'Apprentice' competition... More details will follow soon!
