Year Two's Blog - 14th January

Welcome to Year Two's blog.

It's the end of another busy week!

What we have been doing this week

This week, the focus of our literacy learning has been based around the story 'The Day the Crayons Quit' which you can read here. On Monday, the children came into the classroom to find that their chairs had all gone on strike and left!. Thankfully, they managed to convince the chairs to come back. The children have been writing about 'The Day the Crayons Quit' using contractions, conjunctions and exclamation sentences. (Take a look at the overview here.)

In maths we have been learning about multiplication. The children have been learning about the multiplication symbol and adding equal groups. (Find out more about their learning here.)

In our Design and Technology sessions we have been learning to be 'Brilliant Chefs' - learning about healthy eating, learning food preparation skills and planning our own healthy sandwiches. (Find out more here.)

What we are learning next week

In maths, we will continue to learn about multiplication. We will be recognising and using arrays to multiply, and beginning to learn our 2, 5 and 10 x multiplication facts.

In literacy, we will be writing letters from the perspective of a classroom object, in the style of 'The Day the Crayons Quit', using the skills we have developed over the two weeks.

In our Design and Technology sessions, we will be 'Brilliant Chefs' once more, making our sandwiches and designing the packaging.
