Year One Blog 5th May

What we have been learning this week:

This week in literacy we have thought about what we are excited to see at the Science Museum and have used a conjunction to explain why we thought this. We have written a recount about what we did at the Science Museum.

This week in Maths we have been dividing amounts by sharing and grouping. We have used counters and pictorial representations to show this.

We are encouraging the children to use Doodle Maths at home to improve their maths fluency. If you do not know your child's login, please ask your class teacher.

In Geography we have learnt about the human features of London and wrote our own leaflets and tourist maps about these features.

We were very excited about our trip to the Science Museum this week and the children enjoyed learning about Space and Matter. The children visited a Planetarium where they got to see the Solar System. The children also enjoyed a slime workshop.

Next month the children will be completing the statutory Phonics Screening. Please make sure that you are listening to your child read at least 3 times a week and have looked at the alternative sounds in the phonics pack. If you have lost the pack please see your class teacher for a new one as this is the last push and the children must get at least 32/40 to pass.

Have a great weekend everyone!
