Welcome to this week's Year One Blog
What we have been learning this week:
This week in literacy the children have been introduced to the book 'Beegu' by Alexis Deacon. The children have written a description of Beegu using adjectives with a focus on capital letters and full stops. The children have also been continuing to explore poetry and have created rhyming couplets.
This week in Maths we have been introduced to addition to 20. We have used a number line to count on and have used our tens frames and counters to represent our addition.
We are encouraging the children to use Doodle Maths at home to improve their maths fluency. If you do not know your child's login, please ask your class teacher.
In Geography this week we have learnt about Scotland and Northern Ireland. We have represented our knowledge of the 4 countries we have learnt about using pictures and facts.
In DT this week we have created our own lever mechanisms and considered what they would create for their own lever.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
