Welcome to Year Two's blog.
What we have been doing this week
In maths this week we have been learning about division. We have learned about sharing and grouping, and using our knowledge of the 2 x multiplication facts to divide by 2. Here's our knowledge organiser for this topic.
In literacy, we began to explore 'grandmas' in fiction . (Take a look at the overview here.) We will looked at Grandma Kranky in George's Marvellous Medicine, which you can watch a fabulous reading of the story by Rik Mayall here.
Our wider curriculum focus was Geography. We found out about the world - including the oceans and continents. Find out more in our knowledge organise here.
What we are learning next week
In maths we will continue to work on division. We will be dividing by 2 and using this to explore odd and even numbers. We will also use our 5 and 10 x facts to help us divide. Here's our knowledge organiser for this topic.
In literacy, we will continue to read George's Marvellous Medicine. (Take a look at the overview here.) Many children are excited to be reading a Roald Dahl book, many of them sharing his books that they are reading at home. We will be writing our own character descriptions using expanded noun phrases to describe, and conjunctions to extend our sentences. You can hear the George's Marvellous Medicine being read by Rik Mayall here.
We will continue our Geography learning this week. We will compare the different continents and research one to find out more about it. Find out more in our knowledge organise here.

No change at the top of the charts thus week. Well done Woodpeckers for topping the Doodle charts again. And, excitingly, the Squirrels have topped the reading chart this week for the 2nd consecutive week, so both classes have earned extra playtime.
