Year Two's Blog - 21st January

Welcome to Year Two's blog.

What we have been doing this week

This week, the children have continued to look at 'The Day the Crayons Quit'. The children have written letters from the perspective of a classroom object, in the style of 'The Day the Crayons Quit', using the skills we have developed over the two weeks. (Take a look at the overview here.)

In maths we have been using arrays to multiply, and beginning to learn our 2, 5 and 10 x multiplication facts. (Find out more about their learning here.)

In our Design and Technology sessions we have followed our plans to make and evaluate our sandwiches. We hope that you tried them at home and enjoyed them! (Find out more here.)

What we are learning next week

In maths, we will be learning about division. We will be learning about sharing and grouping, and using our knowledge of the 2x multiplication facts to divide by 2. Here's our knowledge organiser for this topic.

In literacy, we will begin to explore 'grandmas' in fiction . (Take a look at the overview here.) We will begin by looking at Grandma Kranky in George's Marvellous Medicine, which you can watch a fabulous reading of the story by Rik Mayall here.

Our wider curriculum focus switches to Geography next week. We will finding out about the world - including the oceans and continents. Find out more in our knowledge organise here
