Welcome to Year Two's blog
What we have been doing this week
This week, the children completed their textiles projects. They have learned and practiced the running stitch, and designed, created and evaluated their sewn pockets. We think they did a fantastic job - you can see some photos of their work at the bottom of the page. If you have any socks that need darning, you know who to ask! Here's the knowledge organiser for this topic.
This week in maths, the children have begun to learn about fractions. So far we have been learning about halves and quarters and we will build on this next week. You can see some photos of their representations of 'half' at the bottom of the page. Here's our fractions Knowledge Organiser.
In our writing this week we looked at the features of information texts, such as bullet points, diagrams and sub-headings. The children created their own information text about The Great Fire of London. Here's the information sheet for this topic.
What we are learning next week
Next week in maths we will continue our learning about fractions. We will be learning about thirds, unit and non-unit fractions and equivalent fractions. Here's our fractions Knowledge Organiser.
We will be building on the children's knowledge of the Great Fire of London when we learn more about it in our history topic. Take a look at the Knowledge Organiser here.
In their writing next week, the children will continue to write an information text, focusing on including adjectives, possessive apostrophes and conjunctions. Towards the end of the week, they will be completing their 'Superhero Writing' about the Great Fire of London. Here's the information sheet for this topic.

Wow Work
The Woodpeckers are back to the top of the Doodle Chart, thanks largely to Eric who earned 134 stars single-handedly. But, it doesn't stop there as they have gone and done the double again this week, by far the top class for children three times a week.
