Welcome to this week's Year Two blog.
It's Friday again! And what an exciting Friday it is. The children looked awesome this morning dressed as knights, princesses and dragons. We are sure they're going to have a wonderful day.
What we have been doing this week
This week, the children have been continuing to write about castles. They have been exploring the features of information texts, planning and writing their own information texts about castles.
In maths, the children have been adding and subtracting using Base ten (Dienes) cubes.
The children have continued their geography work, looking at what makes a good map and creating their own maps of the school.
What we are learning next week
Next week in literacy, we will be planning and writing a recount of our exciting castles fun day. The children will being some independent 'Superhero Writing' to show all the writing skills they have developed over the last few weeks.
In maths, we will be carrying out some assessments and building on our addition and subtraction work, by using Base Ten (Dienes) equipment to add and subtract 2-digit numbers.
We will be beginning two weeks of art work, practicing different drawing skills to produce our own life drawings (please see the knowledge planner in the pictures below).
Please see next week's spellings below. Set A are common exception words (known as 'tricky words'). Set B are compound words, which children be learning about in their phonics sessions.
