Welcome to Year Two's blog
What we have been doing this week
In maths we have been learning about statistics. We started the week by heading off down the road to carry out a traffic survey. The children created a tally chart and turned this into a pictogram. Throughout the week we have created tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams and answered questions about them. Here's our knowledge organiser.
The children have written their first 'Superhero Write' of the year, writing a character description about Grandma Bird. You can see some of their work below... (Take a look at the overview here.)
In our art lessons, we looked at different painting techniques including stippling and blocking and creating colour wheels. We learned about brilliant artists such as David Hockney and William Turner.
What we are learning next week
In maths next week we will be consolidating our previous addition and subtraction learning, focusing on adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers. Take a look at the knowledge planner here.
In our literacy lessons, the children will be looking at what makes a good leaflet. They will then be focusing on persuasive writing and producing their own leaflet about an event at Upton Country Park.
In our art lessons, the children will be creating their own landscape paintings, drawing on their skills they have developed over the last two weeks.

Wow Work
It was great to see some children who previously hadn't read 3 times a week proud to tell their teachers that they had read 3 times this week. The Woodpeckers have done the double again this week, topping both the maths and reading chart.
