Year Two hunt for clues...
The Year Two children have been hunting for clues about the history of the school today. Here's what they found around the school:
- Old photographs of the school showing it in the 1950s, the 1970s and the 1980s.
- A tree with a plaques, which was planted as a memorial to Miss Baggs, the first headteacher of the school from 1952 to 1974.
- The spot under the old oak tree, as described in an old school log book of where to find a time capsule which was buried to commemorate the millennium in January 2000. (We are wondering whether or not to dig it up and put it back!)
- A plaque showing when the new wing of the school was opened in 1985.
The children also looked at old photographs of the school, and looked at pages from the log books going back to 1902.
We finished with a zoom question session with Mrs Marsh, who was a teacher at the school from 1997, to find out a bit about how school has changed since then.
The children will continue to learn about the history of the school over the next two weeks.
