Welcome to Year Two
What we are learning next week
In Maths next week we will be subtracting two digit numbers using dienes and a number line. We will also be using our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to help us find the correct answer. You can read the knowledge organiser here.
In our literacy lessons next week we will be writing a short non-chronological report and we will be using our knowledge of adjectives to write a short speech about why it is important to protect the water. You can read the knowledge organiser here.
In computer science next week the children will be writing sentences on a laptop and learning how to save their work. You can read the knowledge organiser here.
In geography next week the children will be using aerial photographs of Upton to create their own map. You can read the knowledge organiser here.
In our design and technology lessons we will be preparing ingredients by peeling, slicing, grating and spreading. Once the children have practiced their skills, they decide which ingredients they would like to use to make their sandwich. You can read the knowledge organiser here.

We will be introducing spelling checks this week. Children will receive either a Set A or Set B spelling list. Set A is a list of spellings for children who are currently doing Read, Write Inc and Set B is for children who do Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling lessons. These lists will be slipped into the red spelling books and sent home every Friday. The children will be tested on the words the following week, on a Friday morning.
