Welcome to Year Two's blog.
What we have been doing this week
This week in literacy, we have been reading a new story 'The River' (you can see a video of the story here). The children will be using this as inspiration for their writing, retelling the story using a variety of conjunctions.
In maths, we have been adding three 3-digit numbers and building on our knowledge of number bonds to find number bonds to 100. You can see more in our Knowledge and Skills Organiser.
In our science topic, we have started to learn about materials - how they are used for different purposes, their properties and how they can be changed. You can see the 'knowledge and skills organiser' here.
What we are learning next week
In maths, we will be looking at money. We will familiarise ourselves with the different coins and notes, and use them to make different amounts of money.
In our writing lessons, we will continue to work on the story 'The River'. The children will be planning and writing their own stories based on the river in the present tense, ensuring the use the correct tense in their writing.
In our science lessons we will be looking at the suitability of different materials for different purposes and how materials can be changed. You can see the 'knowledge and skills organiser' here.
Please see next week's spellings below. Set A are common exception words (known as 'tricky words'). Set B are words which contain the spelling group '-tion'.

Wow Work
Once again, we have had some fantastic learning across the curriculum. See some of the super work in the photos below.
The Woodpeckers have done it yet again, maintaining their unbroken run at the top of the Doodle Maths chart. And they have done the double this week as they have also topped the Year Two top readers chart. Well done!
