Year Two Blog 24th February

Welcome to Year Two

What we are learning next week

In maths next week we will be introducing thirds by referring to the numerator and denominator. We will also be learning about unit and non-unit fractions and use fraction frames to find a fraction of a given number.  You can read the knowledge organiser here.

In our literacy lessons we will be describing the Great Fire of London from a different characters point of view. You can read the knowledge organiser here.

In Computer Science we will be learning how to make objects collide and use a collision detection command. You can read the knowledge organiser here.

In Design  and Technology the children will be learning how to sew using a running stitch. You can read the knowledge organiser here.

In our Geography lessons we will be locating and naming the 5 oceans. You can read the knowledge organiser here.

On Thursday 2nd March we will be celebrating our love for reading. We are basing the day on the popular series of ‘Oi’ books by Kes Gray and Jim Fields. To link with this theme, we are asking your child to come to school on World Book Day dressed as an animal. We also ask that they think of something that rhymes with their animal name and be ready to share it. E.g. bunny and honey, cat and hat.
