What we have been learning this week

This week in literacy, we have been reading  'There is a Rang-Tan in my Bedroom' and we have learnt lots of facts about the rainforest. The children wrote some questions to inform the reader e.g. Did you know brightly coloured birds and frogs live in the rainforest?

In maths the children have learnt how to divide by grouping and sharing. Please see the knowledge organiser.

Brilliant Scientists

In science this week we have learnt about the basic structure of a tree and we have looked at the leaves of a variety of trees around the school.

Brilliant Computer Scientists

The children continued to look at instructions and identify errors. They learnt positional language e.g. backwards, forwards, left and right.

Brilliant Geographers

The children looked at human and physical features in the Kenya and they discussed the similarities and differences.

What we are learning next week

In literacy we will writing a letter to a chocolate factory and we will be learning the negative prefix -un.

In maths, we will be introduced to fractions and learning how to find half of a shape and a quantity. We will also begin to explore quarters. Please see the knowledge organiser.

In science this week are going to be looking in detail at deciduous and evergreen trees.

We are going to continue how to follow clear instructions and  further deepen our understanding of positional language.

We are going to continue looking at the similarities and differences between human and physical features in the UK and Kenya.
