Year One's Blog 11th March

Welcome to this week's Year One Blog

What we have been learning this week

This week in literacy, the children have written their adapted version of 'The Stinky Cheese Man' using their own character e.g. The Sparkly Cupcake Man.

In maths, we have been learning about height and length. The children were able to use language such as shorter, longer and taller to describe and compare objects. Please see the knowledge and skills organiser

This week we have been brilliant geographers and we have created a map of the classroom including a key.

What we are learning next week

In literacy we will be learning the traditional tale, 'The Enormous Turnip'. The children will be able to retell and sequence the story. They will also be writing sentences using  'because' and they will be using the suffix -er and -est.

In maths, we will continue to focus on length and height. The children will firstly be using cubes to measure length and height (non-standard measure) and then they will use be introduced to measuring in cm. Please see the knowledge and skills organiser.

We are brilliant scientists! The children are going to be learning about the main parts of the human body!
