Year One Blog 3rd March

Welcome to this week's Year One Blog

What we have been learning this week:

This week in literacy the children have continued with the story of 'Dinosaurs and all that rubbish'. We have recapped using s and es to make words plural and we have retold the story in the past tense.

This week in Maths we have been continuing with place value to 50. We have compared numbers to 50 and ordered them from smallest to greatest. We have finished the week by learning how to count in 2s and 5s.

We are encouraging the children to use Doodle Maths at home to improve their maths fluency. If you do not know your child's login, please ask your class teacher.

In Art this week we have explored textures and used different materials to create different textures in Playdoh.

We had a wonderful day on World Book Day. We created a class story based on the children's costumes and the children completed various rhyming activities. We loved their costumes!

We also had a great time on our visit to Upton Library. We listened to stories and completed a treasure hunt. We also got the chance to explore the books in the library and members were able to take a book home.

We have noticed that not all of the children are reading three times a week or more. Sadly, there are some children that are reading 0 times a week. Please make sure that you are reading with your child as much as possible to support their reading progress.

Have a great weekend everyone!
