Welcome to this week's Year One Blog
What we have been learning this week:
This week in literacy the children have focused on using the conjunction 'and' to join two sentences together. We have looked at the eggs from our story and they have predicted what the babies will look like. We also learnt the prefix 'un' and used this to describe the birds.
Today the children received a letter which explained the half term reading challenge. The children need to find and read 3 books that are red or have hearts on them. We look forward to seeing what books you have been reading!
This week in Maths we have been continuing subtraction within 20. We have used the crossing out method and counters to complete our subtraction. We have also learnt our fact families within 20.
We are encouraging the children to use Doodle Maths at home to improve their maths fluency. If you do not know your child's login, please ask your class teacher.
In Geography this week we have learnt the seas surrounding the UK.
In DT this week we have created our own lever or slider mechanisms using our designs from last week.
In Computer Science we have learnt how to fill a background on the software 'Paint'. We used this tool to create our own Space themed picture.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
