Reception came back after half term dressed up ready to start ther new topic 'People Who Help Us'. There were fire fighters, police, doctors, nurses, soldiers, posties, beauticians, builders, scientists, teachers, vets and even a SWAT team member! Amazing costumes everyone, thank you.
The fun was only just beginning, though, as they had some exciting visitors too. Mr Courtney came to talk to the children about his job as a bus driver and he brought a double decker bus too! The children had so much fun getting on the bus and being given a ticket. Thank you so much to Mr Courtney for providing such a thrilling start to the topic.
The fun didn't stop there as local PCSO Mike Gowans came to school to see the children and tell them about his job helping people in the community. He brought along his car too and everyone went to look at it and find out what other equipment he uses too. Thank you to PCSO Mike for giving up his time to come to school today.
Our Reception children had a fun afternoon on Tuesday when their families came in to school to help transform them into Dinosaurs!
We were so pleased at such a great turnout and the afternoon culminated in a fantastic fashion show where every Reception child took to the stage to show off their newly created costume. The terrifying prehistoric creatures were made out of all sorts of bits of fabric and junk (lots of it courtesy of the Dorset Scrap Store). Some unusual features were seen including some bright pink fluffy eyebrows and plastic cutlery spikes! Thanks to everyone who came for their efforts in guaranteeing a memorable end to what has been a superb Dinosaur topic for the children.
