Year Two's Blog - 7th January 2022

Welcome to Year Two's blog.

Happy New Year everybody. Although it has been a short week, we have packed a lot in and had an exciting start to 2022!

What we have been doing this week

This week, the focus of both our literacy and maths has been 'Professor Puffendorf's Secret Potions'. You can read the story here. The children have been following instructions to make potions and devising their own potions, writing their own instruction. In maths lessons, the children have been carefully measuring using measuring cylinders to make their potions.

What we are learning next week

In maths, we will begin to learn about multiplication and division. You can see what we will be doing over the next couple of weeks by taking a look at the knowledge organiser. We will be focussing on learning the 2x, 5x and 10x multiplication facts, so any help practicing these at home would be very welcome!

In our writing lessons next week we are going to be reading 'The Day the Crayons Quit' (You can read it here). The children will become immersed in the story, reading and writing letters from crayons and other classroom objects! We will also be recapping on exclamation sentences, contractions and conjunctions

Next week, we will be chefs. The children will be planning, making and evaluating their own sandwiches. Find out more by reading the knowledge organiser here.
