Year One's Blog - 29th April

Welcome to this week's Year One Blog

What we have been learning this week

This week in literacy, we have been introduced to the story 'I Want My Hat Back'. The children have created questions and responses between the characters in the story.

In maths the children have been introduced to multiplication. We have used our knowledge of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to sort objects into equal and unequal groups.  Please see the knowledge organiser.

Brilliant Scientists

In science this week we have learnt about different types of plants and trees. The children went on a hunt to find the most common wild plant around our school!

Brilliant Computer Scientists

We have been learning about algorithms and the importance of following a set of instructions.

Brilliant Geographers

We have been learning about different human and physical features around the world!

What we are learning next week

In literacy we will be creating a 'WANTED' poster for the very mischievous rabbit who stole the bear's hat!

In maths, we will continue to focus on multiplication by adding equal groups of objects and creating arrays. Please see the knowledge organiser.

Brilliant Scientists

In science this week we will be discussing the similarities and differences between a variety of plants. We will also look at the structure of a flowering plant. Please see the knowledge organiser.

Brilliant Computer Scientists

We will be looking at how to identify simple errors and continue to follow simple instructions, making sure they are in the correct order.

Brilliant Geographers

We will be learning how to label different types of human and physical features onto a map of England. We will also begin to discuss the similarities and differences between features in England and features in Kenya.
