From the Headteacher, Mr Nigel Helm
Welcome to Upton Infant School!
The aim of this website is not only to give you useful information about our school but also to reflect its ethos. Our school is welcoming and friendly, good relationships between pupils, staff, parents and carers are of paramount importance to us. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, feel valued and are happy to come to school. We have high expectations of all pupils in terms of both academic achievements and behaviour.
Our Ofsted Inspectors reported:
“This is a good school. It has a variety of excellent features, not least of which are in the quality of care, guidance and support which results in pupils' outstanding personal development. Relationships are excellent and underpin extremely positive attitudes to learning from pupils and staff. Morale is high and everyone enjoys school. Parents are overwhelming supportive of the school. Comments like, 'A wonderful atmosphere!' 'Friendly caring staff!' and, 'I have nothing but praise for the school,' are typical. Pupils on the school council found it extremely difficult to come up with anything but positive comments. Pupils make a positive contribution to the school as a community. They say they feel safe because they know that staff can be trusted. They respond with outstanding behaviour and by working hard.”
Ofsted Inspection Report October 2008
We aim to give our children the skills to become confident and independent learners, to love learning. We encourage them to respect others and their environment through negotiating together simple class and school “golden rules”. We provide our children with a school that is stimulating, colourful and well cared for and a curriculum that is thoughtfully planned.
Staff at Upton Infant School are committed to working together. Teamwork is a strong feature of the school and this includes involving parents. We believe that children succeed best when parents and the school work together. We encourage parents to help both in the classroom and with other activities. If you are a prospective parent please take the opportunity to come and visit our school and see for yourself by ringing the school and making an appointment.
